*Published: February 17, 2026 | Author: Fréscopa Sustainability Office | Last Updated: February 17, 2026*

## Overview

This is Fréscopa's first annual Sustainability Report, covering our environmental impact, social responsibility initiatives, and progress toward our 2030 sustainability goals. All metrics are tracked through the **Fréscopa Sustainability Dashboard (FSD)**, our internal measurement platform.

> **Report Identifier**: FSD Annual Report Reference **FSD-AR-2026-001**. Metrics period: January 2025 – January 2026.

## The Fréscopa Green Bean Commitment

In 2025, we launched the **Fréscopa Green Bean Commitment (FGBC)** — a comprehensive sustainability pledge with measurable targets across five key areas:

### 1. Carbon Neutrality and Beyond

**Status: Achieved Carbon-Negative in Q3 2025**

We measure our emissions using the **Fréscopa Emissions Accountability Framework (FEAF)**:

| Emissions Category | 2025 Total | 2024 Total | Change |
|-------------------|------------|------------|--------|
| Scope 1 (Direct) | 12.4 tonnes CO₂e | 15.1 tonnes CO₂e | -17.9% |
| Scope 2 (Energy) | 8.7 tonnes CO₂e | 11.3 tonnes CO₂e | -23.0% |
| Scope 3 (Supply Chain) | 156.2 tonnes CO₂e | 142.8 tonnes CO₂e | +9.4% |
| **Total Emissions** | **177.3 tonnes CO₂e** | **169.2 tonnes CO₂e** | +4.8% |
| Carbon Offsets Purchased | 195.0 tonnes CO₂e | 170.0 tonnes CO₂e | +14.7% |
| **Net Carbon Position** | **-17.7 tonnes CO₂e** | **+0.8 tonnes CO₂e** | Carbon Negative |

Scope 3 increased due to growth (more bags shipped), but our per-bag emissions decreased by **11.2%** year-over-year.

### 2. Packaging Innovation

**The Fréscopa Circular Packaging Initiative (FCPI)**

In 2025, we transitioned to our proprietary **"BrewCycle" packaging**:

- **Bags:** Made from 85% post-consumer recycled materials + 15% plant-based bioplastic
- **Labels:** Printed with soy-based inks on FSC-certified paper
- **Shipping boxes:** 100% recycled cardboard, no plastic tape (water-activated paper tape)
- **Filler material:** Eliminated entirely — bags are sized to fit without void fill
- **One-way valve:** Redesigned using recyclable aluminum instead of plastic

**Packaging Metrics (FCPI Scorecard):**

| Metric | 2025 | 2024 | Target 2027 |
|--------|------|------|-------------|
| Recyclable materials % | 85% | 62% | 95% |
| Plastic eliminated (kg) | 1,247 kg | baseline | 2,500 kg |
| Packaging weight per bag | 23g | 31g | 18g |
| Customer recycling rate | 67% | 41% | 80% |

### 3. Water Stewardship

**The Fréscopa Water Positive Program (FWPP)**

Coffee processing is water-intensive. We're working with our farming partners to reduce water usage:

- **Konga Cooperative (Ethiopia):** Implemented eco-pulpers, reducing water use by **72%** per kg of cherry processed
- **Huila Cooperative (Colombia):** Built water recirculation systems, saving **1.4 million liters** annually
- **Antigua Artisan (Guatemala):** Transitioned 30% of processing to honey/natural methods (zero water)

**Total water saved through FWPP in 2025: 3.8 million liters**

Our target is to become **"water positive"** by 2028, meaning we'll return more clean water to communities than our entire supply chain consumes.

### 4. Shade-Grown and Biodiversity Protection

**The Fréscopa Canopy Conservation Index (FCCI-Bio)**

We developed the **Fréscopa Canopy Conservation Index** to measure biodiversity health on partner farms:

| Metric | Score (0–10) | Description |
|--------|-------------|-------------|
| Shade tree coverage | 8.4 | >60% canopy coverage on partner farms |
| Bird species diversity | 7.9 | Average 23 native bird species per farm |
| Pollinator presence | 8.1 | Healthy bee and butterfly populations |
| Soil health score | 7.6 | Measured by organic matter content and microbial diversity |
| **Overall FCCI-Bio** | **8.0** | Above our target of 7.5 |

In 2025, our partner farms planted **4,700 new shade trees** across all origins, contributing to both carbon sequestration and biodiversity.

### 5. Living Wage Guarantee

**The Fréscopa Living Wage Benchmark (FLWB)**

We don't just pay above market — we benchmark against **local living wages**:

| Country | C-Market Income/Family | Fréscopa Income/Family | Living Wage Target | FLWB Score |
|---------|----------------------|----------------------|-------------------|------------|
| Ethiopia | $1,200/year | $2,040/year | $1,800/year | 113% |
| Colombia | $2,400/year | $3,600/year | $3,200/year | 112% |
| Guatemala | $1,800/year | $2,700/year | $2,500/year | 108% |

All partner farmers earn **at least 108% of the local living wage** — and we're targeting 120% by 2028.

- **12 scholarships** awarded for agricultural college programs
- **3 coffee science workshops** conducted for young farmers

### Healthcare
- **Mobile health clinics** visited 4 cooperatives, serving **890 farmers and families**
- **Dental care program** launched in Yirgacheffe region
- **First aid training** provided to 45 cooperative leaders
